Hello and welcome to the Balihai Cattery. The Balihai Cattery is located in Southern California on the beautiful San Diego County coastline. It became a CFA registered cattery in 1989. Let me tell you how it all came about.
In a town called - Los Angeles - there was a teacher - me - who instructed her students to go home and think of the best "show and tell" story they could come up with in one week. On that storytelling day, many of the students showed up with their pets. They were all cute but my attention was focused on the most beautiful cat I had ever seen in my life. It was a blue-point Himalayan female. I couldn't take my eyes off of the cat. I listened to all the stories - one by one - and they were all interesting - some funny - some sad - some even crazy. Then it was the little girl with the beautiful cat's turn to tell her story. She started out telling the class that her mother was a research doctor at a cancer clinic. This beautiful cat was dropped off at the clinic in a cardboard box with her registration papers. When the girl's mother asked why the person was bringing in the cat - she replied, "I have no use for her anymore, she got out and got pregnant by some alley cat." The girl's mother - the doctor - asked the woman if she was sure, and the woman did not even answer, and walked away. The whole class, including myself, was thinking how totally heartless and insensitive this woman was. The story brought tears to my eyes, but the little girl telling the story told me not to cry because I could have a kitten when they were born. There were 5 kittens born in the litter, and only 2 had the Himalayan pattern and blue eyes. I chose a blue-point female and named her "Lola." Lola was my companion and best friend for the next 18 years. When Lola was 14 years old, I decided to buy my first purebred Himalayan. The rest is history.
My goal is to improve the Himalayan Persian breed without losing the quality of health. All of my kittens and cats come with a health guarantee. I try to match every kitten with the best loving home possible for that kitten's personality. They are all raised with lots of love and attention. I have a variety of kittens to choose from - the traditional look with the longer nose - to the extreme pug face. Each kitten is honestly evaluated according to the CFA standards. Show kittens by reservation.
I would like to thank Debbie and John Webster - Katabears - for Rose and Catalina, and letting me continue with their Exotic lines. I would like to thank Jean Jahoda - Purrfectgems - for Shoshanna, and letting me continue on with her Himalayan lines that she worked on for so many years. I would like to thank Holly Ayers for her friendship and many hours of laughter throughout all the years. And last but not least, a big THANK YOU to Joan Yap for helping me get this site together.
I wish all of you many hours of Purr -
Daisy
